Kicking off

I seem to start every post on this blog these days with a mumbling apology about how it’s been quiet but there’s a load of stuff coming. Thing is, as I’m sure you beautiful Alright Titters have noticed, loads of stuff is coming.

On March 30, me and the effervescent @wardotron travelled down to London to watch a first screening of “The C-Word”, hanging with all Lisa’s friends and family, the producers, the cast, Paul Nicholls (nice job sir by the way), and of course my new big-time crush, the bloody ace Sheridan Smith, who, for the record, has absolutely NAILED it – it felt like we had the old bird back for two hours, swears, Louboutins, the lot.

As well as it being a wonderful, if sometimes tough night, getting to watch it all on a big screen surrounded by Lisa’s groovy entourage took away my fears. I’d convinced myself that I wasn’t going to be able to get through watching it, and if I’d been watching for the first time on the sofa at home between Netflix marathons, maybe I wouldn’t.

Still, I didn’t have to. Instead I got two hours of bittersweet joy and being immensely proud of our overachieving bird. Oh, and I got a hug from Sheridan too, which means I am now better than you.

That was all a couple of weeks ago and now things are starting to get thrilling/squeaky-bum-nerve-wracking. Last night the first trailer screened right after “Casualty”, and the new edition of “The C-Word” is about to hit the shelves (here’s an exclusive peek at the new book cover by the way).

We still don’t know the EXACT broadcast date but we can tell you it’s very soon, and also that TV scheduling is a lot more complex than I realised.

This blog gets a serious plug throughout the drama (of course), and we’re going to slap a bit of paint about for all the new visitors I suspect it will get, so stay tuned.

Oh, and for all you journo-types out there, please contact us at lisalynchremembered@gmail.com. Or bother me at @quarkmonkey if you like.

Big love to all you ‘Tit followers, old and new.

Jonze.

I love you, Quark. In a weird, icky, pedantic kind of way. You are doing marvellous wordy things here and (I'm certain I'm not alone in thinking this) you need offer no apology. None. Thank-you for updating, and being able to update, this supreme place.

(And, in case I've not mentioned it lately, I'm so exceptionally glad that I know you and Ward and Suze, and that I knew Lisa, albeit only a bit. My life is better for you all.)

I saw the trailer on tv today and went online to find this blog straight after. I can't believe I'd never heard of this incredible woman before today. My mum died of breast cancer a few years ago so it can be a bit difficult to read Lisa's posts as it's a topic close to my heart, but I think it's important to read it anyway to honour her memory. I can't wait to watch The C Word as well.

I watched The C-Word on BBC Previews this week and was blown away; in particular the end, which worked really well. What an incredible woman and family. And further proof of what a super talent Sheridan is!

Someone just sent me a link to the preview, asking, "Isn't this your friend?" I loved her use of the present tense. Yes, Lisa is my friend. Is, was, always will be.

If just the trailer makes me cry this much, the entire film is going to wreck me (that is, once it's available for viewing stateside and in other non-UK environs). I'm so sad and pissed off that Lisa isn't here to enjoy all the media attention, but I'm so glad that more of the world will get to know her and her story.

"An ordinary woman," though? Not EVEN! Lisa was anything but ordinary, as viewers of the film will see.

Just watch the c word on BBC 1 what an amazing lady lisa was and still is. I cried from start to end weather it was funny or sad. Such a truly inspiring drama wish there were more people in the world like her and her family xxxxx

My sister has recovered from breast cancer so I really wanted to watch The C Word. What a clever and brave woman was Lisa Lynch. Sheridan Smith is an amazing actress. I was glued to this. I think the programme was done very well. I'll be sending off for the book. God bless Lisa's family and love to my sister xx

I have just finished watching the bbc version of the c word and was blown away by such a sad but inspiration story. I am of similar age to what Lisa would of been and can't imagine handling this as well as she did. You should be so proud of her. We've recently had breast cancer awareness week here in Nz, after watching this movie I feel there is more we can do for this cause
